Trade Deadline: 5 Hypothetical College Football Trades

reat thing there are no trades in College Football. However, if there were, here are some trades that make perfect sense.

Oregon and Notre Dame

Notre Dame receives: WR Evan Stewart

Oregon receives: CB Jayden Sanders, LB Jaylen Sneed and Styles Prescod

Coming into the season, Notre Dame fans talked about how their new-look receiver room is the best they’ve had in a while. I had my speculations, which came true in Week 1. Wide receivers for the Fighting Irish only accounted for 121 yards, and did not score a touchdown. Adding an elite receiver like Evan Stewart would certainly make the Irish the favorite to win the CFP. Jayden Sanders is an elite cornerback, but is currently behind Leonard Moore, Christian Gray and DJ McKinney on the depth chart. The Irish also have three great linebackers in Drayk Bowen, Kyngston Villamu-Asa and Jaiden Ausberry, so losing Sneed would not be too big of a deal. Styles Prescod is still battling Sullivan Absher for the right guard spot, but Absher looked way better vs Wisconsin.

For Oregon, losing a wide receiver like Evan Stewart doesn’t sound great, but Wide Receivers Jeremiah McClellan and Dakorien Moore should be more than enough for Dante Moore, along with Tight End Jamari Johnson. This trade would also give them more depth on the offensive line and secondary, and acquiring a great linebacker like Jaylen Sneed would help replace the lost production in the linebacker room from last season. The Ducks lost star Linebacker Bryce Boettcher to the NFL Draft.

Texas and Washington

Texas receives: OL John Mills

Washington receives: WR Emmett Mosley V

Without a doubt, Texas needed offensive line help for Arch Manning this offseason. While they acquired some elite talent, the need for an offensive guard is still there.

A guy like John Mills could help the Longhorns, who was an All-Big Ten Honorable Mention last season as a freshman on the IOL for the Huskies.

Losing Emmett Mosley is tolerable, due to talent in the receiver room with Cam Coleman and Ryan Wingo.

For Washington, skill-position players are a necessity after losing Jonah Coleman and Denzel Boston to the NFL Draft. Quarterback Demond Williams needs weapons for him to reach his full potential and a proven wide receiver like Emmett Mosley would make an immediate impact. Mosley led Texas with 69 receiving yards against Ohio State, proving he can light up elite Big Ten secondaries.

Indiana and Oregon

Indiana receives: Jerome Simmons

Oregon receives: Jaylen Bell

This trade would give Indiana another piece on the defensive line, which they need. The defense seemed like it took a hit this offseason after a relatively poor showing vs North Texas. Despite the defense cleaning things up with back to back shutouts, more production from the DL will be needed for the Hoosiers in Big Ten play.

A 5th-year guy like Jerome Simmons would make an immediate impact for the Hoosiers, who is currently stuck behind elite defensive linemen like Bear Alexander at Oregon. Despite being a rotational tackle for the Ducks, Simmons has already tallied 10 total tackles on the young season.

Oregon would receive young talent in Jaylen Bell, who is a sophomore in terms of eligibility. Bell has not played yet for the Hoosiers as he has been stuck behind returned Amare Ferrell in the Indiana secondary

This would give the Ducks depth in the secondary, which took a huge hit this offseason and didn’t look great in Week 1 vs Boise State. Losing a guy like Jerome Simmons is completely manageable, as the Ducks have arguably the best defensive line in the country.

Ole Miss and Notre Dame

Ole Miss receives: CB DJ McKinney

Notre Dame receives: QB Deuce Knight and Traylon Ray

Once again, the Irish can afford losing talent in the secondary. Jayden Sanders would slide right in for DJ McKinney; Sanders had 2 pass deflections vs Wisconsin.

Notre Dame would also receive their quarterback for the future in Deuce Knight, who was once committed to play for the Fighting Irish.

The Irish have a young quarterback room behind CJ Carr, and I am sure that there will be questions about whoever gets the Week 1 start for the Irish in 2027 after CJ Carr departs for the NFL Draft.

Notre Dame would also receive a much needed wide receiver depth piece in Traylon Ray, who has totaled over 700 yards and 7 touchdowns in the past two seasons, including a touchdown against LSU a week ago.

Texas Tech and Oregon

Texas Tech receives: QB Dylan Raiola

Oregon receives: RB Cameron Dickey, DL Danthis Upshaw Jr. and DB Ashton Hampton

After the whole Brendan Sorsby saga this offseason, Texas Tech needs a quarterback. Quarterback Will Hammond struggled more than the Red Raiders would’ve liked in Week 1 vs Abilene Christian, throwing only 1 touchdown and also an interception against the FCS opponent.

Adding a proven starter like Dylan Raiola, who is currently behind Dante Moore at Oregon would be crucial.

Raiola would also finally complete his mission of becoming exactly like his idol, Patrick Mahomes.

The three depth pieces they would trade are all currently backups, although Cameron Dickey rushed for over 1,000 yards last season for Texas Tech despite entering the year as the groups RB2 behind Tahj Brooks.

This trade would allow Oregon to go all-in for this season. They would lose their future quarterback, but would gain another elite option in the backfield, which the Ducks could definitely use.
