CFB Weekly top 25 after week two

Week Two provided some awesome football, but the AP poll does not accurately represent the performances from the week. Here is CFB Weekly’s top 25 after week two.

1. Texas (+3)
Huge statement win, overcoming a 20-point fourth-quarter deficit to beat No. 1 Ohio State 24-23. Texas has the best win in the country and deserves the top spot.

2. Georgia (—)
Dominated Western Kentucky 70-20 and continues to look like one of the most complete teams in the country. The Dawgs are dangerous going into SEC play.

3. Notre Dame (—)
Completely handled Rice 52-0. The Irish have been dominant through two weeks and remain firmly in the national title picture. The country should be excited for the upcoming Miami vs Notre Dame matchup in November

4. Indiana (+1)
Shut out Howard 55-0. The defending champs continue to roll and remain undefeated with an impressive start. Josh Hoover looks elite in Bloomington.

5. Ohio State (-4)
Controlled Texas for most of the game before an incredible collapse in the fourth quarter seeing 21 unanswered points from the Longhorns. Still an elite team, but losing a 20-point fourth-quarter lead has to cost them and put urgency on the team.

6. Miami (+1)
Absolutely demolished Florida A&M 77-7. Miami remains undefeated and continues to look like the ACC's team to beat. Who is going to stop Malachi Toney?

7. Texas A&M (+3)
Took care of Arizona State 48-20. The Aggies looked strong on both sides of the ball against a good power four opponent and continue to climb. This A&M offense looks legit.

8. LSU (—)
Beat Louisiana Tech 45-14. LSU remains undefeated and has looked strong since the start of the season. The Tigers struggled mightily in the first half.

9. Ole Miss (—)
Took care of Charlotte 41-9. The Rebels remain unbeaten and head into a controversial top ten massive matchup with LSU.

10. Alabama (+2)
Beat Kentucky 45-17. Alabama looked much more comfortable offensively and continues to build momentum with new QB starter Keelon Russell. Alabama had a rough first half against the Wildcats but quickly turned it around in the third.

11. Texas Tech (+2)
Defeated Oregon State 35-24 on the road. The Red Raiders remain undefeated and have a strong case as the Big 12's best team.

12. BYU (+3)
Beat Arizona 28-17. BYU stays undefeated and continues to establish itself as a serious Big 12 contender. QB Bear Bachmeier is a heisman dark-horse.

13. Michigan (NR)
Huge jump after beating No. 11 Oklahoma 17-10. The Wolverines' defense was outstanding, and this is easily their best win of the season. Michigan might be back.

14. USC (—)
Beat Louisiana 49-30. USC remains undefeated and continues to put up big offensive numbers. The defense needs to improve after two rough weeks against inferior opponents.

15. SMU (+2)
Dominated UC Davis 56-10. SMU remains undefeated and looks like one of the ACC's top contenders.

16. Tennessee (+2)
Beat Georgia Tech 45-24. Tennessee continues to look dangerous offensively and remains undefeated. Freshman QB Brandon Faizon played well.

17. Oklahoma (-6)
Lost to Michigan 17-10. The Sooners' offense struggled badly, and the loss knocks them down significantly in the rankings. Luckily, the Sooners have a matchup with Texas soon to get their season back on track.

18. Penn State (-2)
Beat Temple 27-9, but didn't exactly dominate. Still undefeated, but there are questions about how they stack up against the elite of the Big Ten.

19. Utah (+1)
Dominated Arkansas 43-10. Utah looked extremely impressive and continues to make a case as one of the Big 12's best teams.

20. Iowa (+1)
Beat Iowa State 16-13 in a defensive battle. Not pretty, but Iowa remains undefeated and found a way to win a rivalry game.

21. Houston (+1)
Destroyed Southern 77-6. The Cougars have been dominant and remain undefeated heading into a major test against Texas Tech. Transfer QB Connor Weigman looks like a superstar.

22. Missouri (+1)
Beat Kansas 38-21 on the road. Missouri stays undefeated and continues to look like a legitimate SEC contender.

23. Louisville (+1)
Beat Villanova 59-13. Louisville stays in the rankings after a dominant bounce-back performance.

24. Virginia (+1)

Crushed Norfolk State 59-3. Virginia remains undefeated and holds onto a spot in the Top 25.

25. Tulsa (NR)

2-0 after beating Sam Houston 23-17. The Golden Hurricane already have a win over Oklahoma State and deserve recognition after another road victory. Tulsa is a legit playoff contender from the group of five.

Biggest changes: Texas +3, Ohio State -4, Oklahoma -6, Michigan unranked → 13, and Tulsa unranked → 25. Oregon is no longer ranked in CFB Weekly’s post week two top 25.
