CFB Weekly's Jayden Zych previews four matchups in the Big 12 that will be crucial in deciding the conferences playoff representatives and regular season champion. Preview the remaining matchups for one of the country's most balanced conferences below...

Per usual, the Big 12 is one of the country's most balanced conferences. While BYU, Utah, and Texas Tech have turned heads with top-ten rankings and playoff predictions, there are many more than three teams that can contend for this years playoff spot from the BIG 12. Preview some of the conferences most important upcoming matchups below...
BYU at Utah (November 7)

The Holy War could have more at stake than bragging rights this season. Utah enters Week 9 as the Big 12's lone unbeaten team, while BYU is looking to rebound from a shocking 39–31 double-overtime loss to UCF. The Cougars already own an impressive 28–24 victory over Notre Dame, giving them a strong resume despite their first defeat. The Cougars climbed to as high as the AP Polls #2 team in the country as early as a week ago. Utah, meanwhile, comes off a hard-fought 21–13 win over previously #14 Houston. Powered by quarterback Devon Dampier's 150 rushing yards and two touchdowns, Utah’s offense has been humming in HC Morgan Stalley’s first season. With both programs pursuing a conference championship and a potential playoff berth, this rivalry could have major implications for the entire Big 12 race.
Utah at Arizona (November 14)

This matchup could determine whether Utah maintains control of the conference or Arizona makes a late push toward the Big 12 Championship. The Wildcats have won five consecutive games since their only loss to BYU, including a dominant 39–3 victory over Iowa State. Quarterback Noah Fifita has helped lead an efficient Arizona offense, while Utah's physical defense and mobile quarterback Devon Dampier have kept the Utes undefeated. With Arizona also facing Texas Tech before this contest, the Wildcats have an opportunity to collect multiple major victories against conference contenders. A Utah victory could provide critical separation in the standings, while an Arizona win could create a crowded race entering the final two weeks.
Arizona at Texas Tech (October 31)

One of the biggest matchups of Week 9 features two teams looking to avoid a potentially devastating second conference loss. Texas Tech suffered its first defeat last weekend, falling 37–24 to Cincinnati after struggling with turnovers and allowing 255 rushing yards. Arizona enters with considerable momentum following its blowout victory over Iowa State. The quarterback matchup between Arizona's Noah Fifita and Texas Tech's Will Hammond will be worth watching, especially given the Red Raiders' recent turnover problems. Both teams remain firmly in the championship picture, but the winner will gain a significant head-to-head advantage over another Big 12 contender. With both teams also seeking a College Football Playoff berth, this game carries national implications beyond the conference standings.
Texas Tech at Oklahoma State (November 14)

Oklahoma State has emerged as one of the Big 12's biggest surprises, positioning itself alongside Texas Tech near the top of the conference standings. The Cowboys are coming off a commanding 57–24 victory over Colorado and have established themselves as legitimate championship contenders. Texas Tech, meanwhile, is trying to recover from its first loss after entering the season's second half as one of the conference favorites. With both teams holding identical 3–1 conference records, this meeting in Stillwater could effectively serve as a championship elimination game if either team suffers another loss beforehand. The winner would secure a valuable head-to-head advantage entering the final stretch, while the loser could be forced to rely on other results to reach the conference title game.
